After too many days of unbearable heat
we’ve begun dreaming of Autumn.
We can’t wait until that cool, crisp air blows in
and the leaves begin to change.
Soon enough it’ll be time for cozy sweaters
and lots of layers.
But in that time between the end of Summer and the start of Fall,
when the days are hot but the nights are cool,
what does one wear?
We’ve taken our favorite Summer staples
and paired them with Fall basics
to create the perfect transitional looks…
One of our favorite Summer dresses is this strapless number by Velvet. Its berry hue makes it perfect for going into Autumn. Find a knitted vest, like this one from Missoni, with similar colors to add warmth to the look. Paired with boots this look is ready for Fall.
Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day is so passé. The Fall/Winter runways were filled with all-white ensembles. Of course that can be a little too stark, so add a color to the mix! We love blues and white for that in-between season. Layer a light-weight sweater for a collared shirt for a smart look that’s suitable for a changing climate.
You know that cute, printed tank-dress that makes heads turn? Just because it’s getting cooler doesn’t mean it needs to retire just yet. Pick a color from the print and find it in a shirt, layer the shirt under the dress for an extra pop of color and a little more coverage. We like this look toughened up with black biker boots.
One of Summer’s major jean trends is the boyfriend cut. From jeans, to capris, to shorts, this style is casual and comfortable while still being flattering on most figures. Roll the hem of your boyfriend jeans (or shorts) to show off a fabulous shoe – we love these mule/clogs from Michael Kors, they’re still breathable in Summer heat but have the rich texture that comes with Autumn apparel. On top, we paired a button-down shirt with a luxe tweed jacket that you can remove depending on the temperature. This ensemble is a bit Ivy League-chic and thus looks impeccable with a collegiate background. Back to School Outfit, anyone?
